國立臺南藝術學院造形藝術研究所畢業。早期以動態雕塑為主,以磁鐵作為媒材討論無形的磁理能量表現。研究所以後,持續對無形的能量關注,除延續早期作品的面向外,轉向對聲音進行研究,將無形的能量轉化為可視,並且追尋原初的價值。的對話。
Tseng Wei-Hao graduated from the Graduate Institute of Plastic Arts, Tainan National University of the Arts. His early works were mainly kinetic sculptures, using magnetic as a medium to discuss the expression of invisible magnetic energy. After receiving his MA, he has not only continued studying invisible energy and the themes in his early works, but has also begun studying sound, visualizing energy that cannot be seen and pursuing the value of the origin.

隱聲迷宮-門Hidden Sounds in the Maze
作品創作動機來自於夜晚時,望著家後面的小山坡上的大樹,交錯的樹枝和夜晚的天空就像一座黑色深邃的迷宮,各種蟲鳴鳥叫聲似乎在引導著思緒穿越這座迷宮。
作品畫面以導電油墨和黑色顏料覆蓋成複雜畫面,利用圖案中走道兩邊的區塊不相連的特性,讓觀眾以手接觸畫面時可以透過身體的導電性接通聲音訊號,利用此特性讓觀眾可以透過觸摸發聲尋找出路。寓意在身處被遮蓋掩飾的環境中,必須憑藉著一些方法和線索才有前進或離開的機會。

Hidden Sounds in the Maze is inspired by the nocturnal hillside landscape behind the artist’s family home. The intertwining tree branches and the dark sky seem to form a black, deep maze, and the sounds of birds and insects seem to be guiding the human mind through this maze. 

Using layers of conductive ink and black paint to create an intricate image, the property of disconnection between the images and the lateral areas allows the audiences’ bodies to become conductive and transmit sound signals when they touch the image with their hands. This property enables the audience to find the way out of the maze through touching. The work serves as a metaphor, which indicates that one can rely on certain methods and clues to progress or a way out when being in an uncertain situation.

種聲 Growing Sounds
《種聲》是為2006第一屆互動裝置首獎作品《Speaker Tree》的延伸創作。希望透過觀眾的互動創造樹林的意象,同時也藉由自然的景象創造數位的想像。一排在水邊的樹林,遠看就像電腦裡錄音時的聲波圖,觀眾用鉛筆在畫面上塗畫連接和延伸樹林的樣貌,創造各種獨特的聲波樹林,並透過身體的導電連接製造各種聲音,就好像每個觀眾為畫面中的樹種下特別的枝葉聲音,最後集合在畫面上形成一段眾人之聲的音波圖,展現結合各種獨特聲響形狀的聲音風景。

Growing Sound is the continuation of Speaker Tree, the winner of the First Prize of Interactive Installation Award in the 1st Digital Art Award Taipei in 2006. It is hoped that an image of trees can be created through interaction with the audience while re-imagining nature in a digital way. A row of trees by the water looks like the sound wave diagram when doing recording on computers. The audience can draw with pencils, connecting and extending the trees to create a unique forest of sound waves. At the same time, their bodies are conductive, connecting and producing all kinds of sounds, as if they were growing the sounds of branches for the trees in the image. Finally, a sound wave diagram encompassing the sounds grown by the public is formed, demonstrating a soundscape comprising of distinctive sounds.

觀音Watching the Sounds
藝術家的創作動機來自一個音流學(Cymatic)的可視化聲音實驗。作品的圖像來自於固定頻率25HZ的聲音在水面上呈現的瞬間片段,並將其拍照紀錄後以導電油墨印製在許多木條上。藝術家希望分割圖像,呈現一種水波紋的感覺,木條左右移動時,透過觀眾身體的互動,隨機擾動圖像和創造聲音。這些圖像和木條本身都是獨特的存在片段,透過合作組合就可以呈現一個大的圖像,達到各自完成自身也共同完成整體的概念。

​Watching the Sounds is inspired by a Cymatic sound visualization experiment. The images used in the work are taken from the visualization of 25HZ on water surface. The artist photographs the images and prints them out with conductive ink on a number of wood sticks. By dividing the image, he hopes to create a sense of rippling water. When the wood sticks sway, the audience’s physical interaction can randomly interfere with the images and create sounds. These images and wood sticks are independent fragments; however, when combined, they reveal a larger picture, embodying the concept of existing individually yet forming a larger whole collectively.
